There is a new book being released Summer 2010 on the life of Lieutenant Father Joseph Verbis Lafleur by Andrepont Printing. It is written by Peter Guerre and Suzanne Dore’ Guerra. For the first time, full details of the Father Lafleur’s childhood, events from his life as a parish priest, and eyewitness testimony to his fearless and life sacrificing love for his fellow soldiers is being assembled in one complete place.

About the Authors

Peter Joseph Guerra was born in Houston, Texas. He was educated at St. Thomas More Elementary School and St. Thomas High School. After graduating from Texas A&M, he was commissioned a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force where he has served in a variety of duties in Intercontinental Ballistic Missile operations. He married Colleen Gowlovech in 1998 and has two sons, Peter Joseph and John Edward. Having served 19 years active duty, Lieutenant Colonel Guerra earned master degrees in Business Administration and in Military Operational Art and Science. He is stationed at Randolph AFB in San Antonio, Texas.

Suzanne Dore’ Guerra was born in Abbeville, Louisiana and was baptized by Father Joseph Verbis Lafleur. She went to Mt. Carmel Elementary and High School and graduated in 1958. She attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana where she earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in education. She married Ricardo Guerra in 1964 and has four children, Richard, Peter, Christina, and Alyce. She has eleven grandchildren.
